  1. Applying Feedback from SEEQ to Strengthen Instruction

  2. Learning Objectives • Describe the components of the Student Educational Experience Questionnaire (SEEQ). • Reflect on Fall 2023 course feedback to support continuous improvement. • Discuss approaches to making constructive use of the student feedback received through the SEEQ.

  3. Student Educational Experiences Questionnaire 1) In a few sentences, please provide feedback on your learning experience in this course. Consider the assignments and feedback you received, materials, learning activities and interactions with peers, your interactions with the instructor and other aspects related to your learning experience that you want to mention.

  4. Student Educational Experiences Questionnaire 2) The overall structure of the course (content and materials, assignments, activities) promoted a meaningful learning experience for me. [Likert Scale of 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree)]

  5. Student Educational Experiences Questionnaire 3) The instructor created a welcoming and inclusive environment. [Likert Scale of 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree)] 4) In the space provided, please provide an explanation for your rating in #3.

  7. SEEQ Feedback – Numerical ratings quickly summarize students’ perception of their learning experience and sense of belonging. – Open-ended questions provide: • acknowledgement of effective practices. • actionable recommendations for future offerings.

  9. Reflecting on SEEQ feedback Before reviewing student feedback, reflect on your course. – What went well? What was successful? – What challenges were encountered? – What strategies did you try this semester? Were they successful? – What do you wish you would have tried differently?

  10. Reflecting on SEEQ Feedback • Is the feedback what you expected? • Any surprises? If so, what surprised you and why? • How does the student feedback compare to your self-reflection about the course? • What is your key takeaway from the feedback?

  11. Making Constructive Use of SEEQ feedback • Be gentle with yourself. • Assume comments were given in good faith. • Look for themes and patterns. • Identify opportunities for improvement to strengthen course for student learning. • Identify opportunities to model for students how apply feedback for improvement.

  12. Implementing SEEQ Feedback • Identify one or two areas for improvement or change. • Not necessary to overhaul course. • Identify one or two changes that can leverage the greatest impact. • Develop a plan for implementing the changes and implement the plan.
