  5. Building Skills Capacity: what needs to be done? At the SusChemworkshop “Building Skills Capacity for a Sustainable European Chemical Sector” held at the RSC in October 2011, experts from industry and academia identified together a need for: • Enhanced dialogue and collaboration between HEIs and industry on skills for innovation issues and course development • Greater awareness among HE teaching staff of the benefits of context-based teaching resources • Better dissemination of ‘good practices’ for the introduction of skills for innovation into HE courses (methodologies, course design, involvement of industry and to demonstrate the value active learning)

Objective The Educate to Innovate programme seeks to exploit innovation outputs from SusChem’sResearch & Innovation projects to enhance the innovation skills of future generations of scientists and engineers through the effective engagement of industry and higher education institutions (HEIs).

F3 Factory Aims & Objectives • Development and implementation of a modular continuous plant for low to medium scale production • Develop radically new modular chemical production technology • Standardise processes and their interfaces INVITE facility opened in October 2011.
