  1. Lesson 2:____ Section 4.4 Evaluating Trig Functions at Any Angle Ex. Let (-4, 3) be a point on the terminal side of ⊖. Find sin, cos, and tan of ⊖. (-4, 3)

  2. Reference Angles ! The values of trig functions of angles greater than 90 (or less than 0) can be found from their values at corresponding acute angles called REFERENCE ANGLES.

  3. Reference Angles ! Let ⊖ be an angle in standard position. Its REFERENCE ANGLE is the acute angle ⊖’ formed by the terminal side of ⊖ and the horizontal axis. Always Acute ! Always Positive !

  4. To Evaluate Trig Functions of any Angle: S AT C • Sketch the angle • Determine the Trig function’s value at an associated reference angle. • Determine the polarity based upon the quadrant in which theta lies.
