The Ontario Conference of Casualty Actuaries (OCCA) held its Fall meeting on Thursday, November 4, 2004 at Ernst and Young, located at 222 Bay Street, Toronto, Ontario from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A motion to approve the minutes of the June 3, 2004 Spring Meeting was carried. A motion to approve the new members and subscribers was carried. The open officer’s position was filled by acclamation: Lisa Guglietti, Vice President A motion to approve the Financial Statements for the 2004 fiscal year was carried. Minutes of the OCCA Fall MeetingNovember 4, 2004 • The recipients of the OCCA 2003 scholarship were announced: • Xiuzhen Wu, University of Toronto • Hong Zheng, University of Western Ontario • Denise Leung Yu Cheung, University of Waterloo • The 2004 OCCA Golf Tournament was reviewed. • The following topics were addressed by our guest speakers: • Jim Christie of Ernst & Young presented International Financial Reporting Standards Applied to Property and Casualty Insurance • David Oakden of Towers Perrin presented Is [Enterprise] Risk Management for Actuaries? • Pat Teufel presented CAS Update: Where We've Been, Where We Are, and Where We're Going on behalf of the CAS • The meeting was adjourned.
