  1. The DTTF Status Giuseppe Codispoti (Universidad Autonoma de Madrid) For DTTF Collaboration G.Codispoti – Muon barrel Workshop

  2. Overview • Hardware Status • Software Status • TS new features • DQM • Ghost suppression and firmware upgrades • Expected results • First 2011 studies with Cosmics G.Codispoti – Muon barrel Workshop

  3. Status of DTTF Hardware Janos et Al. • DTTF Crates fully operating at P5 • Fixed VME access to the PHTF controllers • Problems more evident in the Linco Controller test • The new firmware allows safe OptoRx access • Spares situation is still critical. • Working on a solution G.Codispoti – Muon barrel Workshop

  4. PHTF efficiency Last Replaced Boards N2 S05 (also bad dir MB2) N1 S07 (also bad dir MB2) P2 S02 (also bad dir MB2)N2 S02 (also bad pos MB1) P0 S01 (L1A missing and bad pos MB3) N2 S2 N2 S5 Next possible changes N2 S11 (also bad pos)plus P1 S09 (bad dir MB2) Jorge Janos Giuseppe Carlo • DTTF very efficient in 2010 • Hard work to identify inefficient sectors and neighbour connections and promptly replace them • Part of inefficiencies matching with “bad LUT” problems identified by Carlo • Need re-evaluation with new data G.Codispoti – Muon barrel Workshop

  5. Trigger Supervisor Josu Jorge • Playback Monitoring, working since August 2010 • New feature: Alarms on rates! • Provided support to OptoRx: Tests, Configuration and Monitoring • Software stable • Crashes encountered in the OptoRx workers • Next step: TS 1.11 • Would be nice to coordinate with DTSC for the upgrade to avoid problems in the shared OptoRx part G.Codispoti – Muon barrel Workshop

  6. PlayBack Monitoring Josu • Working since August • Now integrated with production TS, with new address: • http://l1ts-dttf-03.cms:3008 Normal OptoRX unlock! G.Codispoti – Muon barrel Workshop

  7. Rate Error report Josu Right now implemented in Hotspot Going to appear in the central monitoring! • Select Hotspot in the menu • Type the following address on the “File” tab: • http://l1ts-dttf-01.cms:3000/main/dttf.hotspot • Load! G.Codispoti – Muon barrel Workshop

  8. DTTF DQM Giuseppe Jorge Lorenzo Wee Don • Online/Offline DQM fully reviewed • Fixed, cleaned up, reorganized • Implemented different behaviours in the Online/Offline cases • Implemented request for Global Muon in the offline • Full description of the plots in a dedicated twiki (Under construction): • https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/viewauth/CMS/DTTFDataQualityMonitoring G.Codispoti – Muon barrel Workshop

  9. New Features in DQM Giuseppe RUN 149182 28/10/2010 G.Codispoti – Muon barrel Workshop

  10. New GMT match section Giuseppe • This plot should be empty (in the limit of perfect PHTF-GMT matching): can spot readout problems • Tracks without GMT match:gives an idea of the ghost cancelation behaviour • (e.g. the above plot shows a problem in the wedge sorter h-cancelation algo) RUN 149182 28/10/2010 • DTTF tracks at GMT G.Codispoti – Muon barrel Workshop

  11. Wedge Sorter h-cancelation Luigi • Cancels duplicated tracks due to wheel crossing • Selection based on quality was incorrect • Firmware fix under test in Wedge 9 RUN 158090 16/02/2011 New Firmware Old Firmware G.Codispoti – Muon barrel Workshop

  12. Prefiring reduction:Herbert Scheme • Ghost cancelation scheme proposed by Herbert Rohringer • Implemented in hardware since the very begin • First efficiency check with cosmics, need to be better studies in details with data! • Preliminary results: • Efficiency: expected reduction of 1% triggers, still reasonable • Algorithm: in 2% cases the hardware do not perform as expected • Need to go back to the HW and test the implementation with test patterns G.Codispoti – Muon barrel Workshop

  13. Prefiring reduction:BX Ghost Busting at Barrel Sorter Carlo Luigi • Ghost cancelation based on timing implemented at the Barrel Sorter • Work ongoing!Preliminary results: • No sensible variation in efficiency • First test with cosmics show 85/90% reduction of out of time ghosts • Need more detailed studies • Need to be tested with collision data RUNS 158090-158095-158097 16/02/2011 Events triggered at consecutive bx • Red: bx ghost busting disabled • Green: bx ghost busting enabled • Match with loosely pointing global mu (dxy=50cm; dz=1m) • f match within 0.05 rad G.Codispoti – Muon barrel Workshop

  14. Ghost suppression emulated with collision data Jorge Giuseppe • Estimated efficiencies as a function of the muonpT, of the "Herbert scheme" and "new BS time ghost-busting" algorithms • Used 39.4 pb-1 of Zmm events (tag-and-probe). e>99% Herbert Schema BX Ghost Busting G.Codispoti – Muon barrel Workshop

  15. Conclusions • Many improvements on the hardware, DT taking advantage for the OptoRx control and monitoring • New monitoring features in the online software • Spot problems online with hotspot error reporting • Browse rates history down to the single channel level • Upgraded DQM for prompt system status check • New ghost suppression algorithms: under investigation! • Ready for new data taking! • Great results in 2010  • We expect to be at least as good as in 2011!  G.Codispoti – Muon barrel Workshop
