  5. Basic Expectations • School Attendance: -minimal absences throughout the school year -making up work within next day back from any absence -being present on test dates, when assignments are due -participation is a significant part of some of the courses so missing class will hurt a student’s grade -Students NEED to be responsible for checking in with the teacher after being absent; to get missed notes or information from classmates

  6. Time Commitment -Students should expect to put in a minimum of 3-5 hours of work outside of school time for each college credit course. -Students should expect to do work nightly in each college credit course to stay up-to-date with the coursework. -Long term projects may be assigned, and students need to learn to manage time in a productive manner. -Expecation of being prepared for class: readings are completed, homework completed, resources used.

  7. Tests -Students are expected to be present for tests, and must handle scheduling conflicts as soon as possible. -For many of the college credit courses, tests are a significant part of the final grade.

  8. 4. Student -should be motivated to monitor his or her assignments, progress, syllabus, questions about grades or asking or extra help -should be able to manage time effectively -should be committed to attending class -should understand that only certain grades will transfer to college

  9. Teacher Comments • The class is a college-level class. Even though we have a whole year to cover what is done in one semester at the college level, the class still moves more quickly than a normal high-school class. There are a lot of topics to cover and a lot of work to do. Students must be prepared to read and do work outside of class.

  10. Commitment to completing class assignments on time is an absolute essential element of the class. Time management skills are also necessary to finish assignments • Grades in Calculus are very strongly determined by a student’s performance on exams • Students must be organized, responsible and willing to ask for help themselves.
