  2. SEDAC RCx Program • Who are we? • Smart Energy Design Assistance Center is a jointly managed program through the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and 360 Energy Group, LLC to help public and private clients identifyenergy efficiency improvements in buildings. • SEDAC is sponsored by the Illinois DCEO, in partnership with investor owned utilities, including Ameren Illinois, Commonwealth Edison, Nicor, North Shore, and Peoples Gas.

  3. SEDAC RCx Program • As part of our programming with the state, SEDAC manages DCEO’s Public Sector RCx Program. Other SEDAC Programs Include: • Energy Assessment Program • New Construction Design Assistance • Public Housing Efficiency Living • Training and Outreach • Energy Incentive Guidance

  4. SEDAC RCx Program • The purpose of the Public Sector RCx Program is to help public sector clients identify low-cost to no-cost energy saving improvements that will have an estimated total payback of 1.5 years or less. • Public sector clients include: • Units of Local, State and Federal Government • K-12 school districts (elementary, high school) • Community Colleges • Public Universities

  5. SEDAC RCx Program • Eligibility is limited to existing public buildings that: • Receive electrical delivery service, regardless of supplier, from Ameren Illinois or ComEd. Public buildings receiving natural gas from Ameren Illinois, Nicor, North Shore, or Peoples Gas may also be eligible for inclusion of natural gas savings. • Are at least 5 years old and have a building size of at least 150,000 conditioned square feet* • Have a functioning building automation system and the client agrees to provide BAS access to the RCx provider • Have an energy use index showing a potential to produce significant electrical and natural gas savings through RCx

  6. SEDAC RCx Program • As part of the program, SEDAC will perform the analysis in house or assign a qualified RSP to conduct the RCx analysis at no cost to the customer. However, to participate in the program, each program participant must: • Spend at, a minimum $10,000, to implement agreed upon measures • Begin implementation of measures in the current fiscal program year • Upon receipt of the RCx plan, implement at least $10,000 worth of selected measures within 10 months

  7. SEDAC RCx Program • The RCx program is a 1.5-2 year program and consists of four major stages, including: • Application Phase • Planning, Investigation, and Recommendation (PIR) Phase • Implementation Phase • Verification Phase

  8. SEDAC RCx Program • While energy savings can vary depending on the building type and scope of analysis, on average we typically find yearly energy savings of 10-15% for our clients. • SEDAC Retro-Commissioning results (90 completed or in progress to date)

  9. SEDAC RCx Program SEDAC is looking for candidates for PY6, which starts June 1, 2013! Next step? • Fill out a Notice of Interest form at http://rcx.sedac.org
