  1. 8 Tips for Preparing Your Furnace for Winter School is in complete swing, the leaves are transforming color, and that pumpkin spice latte isn't enough to stave off the morning cold. So it's time to change your HVAC system over to Heat. Please study the following list to be sure your furnace is prepared for winter, and if you want heating repair in Rancho Mirage, CA, El Centro, contacts us. 1.On the thermostat. Change from refrigerating to heating and set the temperature a couple of degrees higher than the current room temp. If you don't listen to the heat kick on within a minute, pull off the cover and confirm the wire connections are safe (if you feel comfy doing so). If the Wire connections are snug, verify the system's power source is turned on. If it's still not working yet, you could contain the furnace fan, blower, or Heat pump — but it probably makes better sense to contact a skilled HVAC repair person.

  2. 2.replace the filters. You likely have air filters behind a duct grill in the fence or ceiling or one filter in the system. Change these filters every few months. Or, if you have an enduring electrostatic filter, you can wash it with water and reuse it. Cleaning or replacing your filters regularly removes particles from your system and can extend its life. While at it, change your humidifier filter and put the humidistat if your HVAC includes a humidifier. 3.Cover the AC condenser. Unless your HVAC is a heat pump (at which point, don't cover it because it runs all year), cover the condenser to protect it from falling icicles. "A big junk can lid blocked with bungee cords works quite okay for this part, "You can even use a panel to protect the fan — but don't cover it in a moisture-trapping cover. 4.Heat exchanger cleaning. "The heat exchanger should be dusted and swept out yearly by a skilled experienced while the unit is disabled," While it's being cleaned, Air Comfort Heating & Cooling will examine for damages, which could lead to a harmful carbon monoxide leak into your residence. 5.Clean and lubricate the blower motor. First, examine the owner's manual to see if your motor requires lubrication. If it occurs, stop using the device, open the cover, and clean the bearing caps. After that, take off the caps and grease the paths. 6.Check the ignition button. You might need to relight the pilot on an old system. Electronic ignitors are found in newer systems. Push the reset button if the ignitor isn't functioning. Check your breaker if that still doesn't solve the problem. Still not functioning? Bring in a specialist. 7.Examine the chimney and the CO. detectors. Chimneys can house carbon buildup or even small animals. "A professional should inspect them periodically. Routinely test or replace carbon monoxide detectors as well, as they help protect you from the "silent killer."

  3. 8.If you have an oil-powered furnace, replace your filter and nozzle and check the tank level. Unlike gas-fired systems, oil units require oil filter changes, burner nozzle cleaning, and a thorough heat-exchanger brushing to keep them running efficiently since oil doesn't burn as cleanly as gas. Air Comfort Heating & Cooling can help. "Nearly all manufacturers require an authorized HVAC company in Rancho mirage for annual maintenance to ensure their promises. Schedule your maintenance check today.
