That gave the channel a human face, a friendly face, someone you could identify with the station, so no matter where you saw them, whether it was on screen, in the papers or in real life, you immediately identified them with the station. It was a more subtle form of branding than most TV channels go in for today.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the art and science of making your website friendly to search engines. As it turns out, headlines are a critical part of this. Google and other search engines very heavily overweight words that are in page and story titles. Professional journalists should operate as trustees of the public, seek the truth, report it fairly and with integrity and independence, and stand accountable for their actions.
