Rodin’s Hands • TLW: engage in drawing , sculpting and crating symbolically and abstractly • Individually creat and paint a plaster cast of a hand • Collaborate on a group sculpture.
Materials • Sketchbooks, pencils • Paper to cover tables • Warm water in shallow containers • Scissors • Sheets of Plastercraft • Acrylic paints and brushes
Guided Practice • Discuss the expressive and emotional impact of Rodin’s hands in many of his sculptures • Discuss the “Thinker” • Sketching: Students have created 5 sketches of hands with one large complete drawing (last week) • Cast hands in pairs • Reference: Sculpture Experience: Page 74-78 • Rubric: Page 77.
