Have you ever thought about it that way before? It is impossible to have any kind of relationship unless there is communication. That is true for you and your partner and for your relationship with God.
What does communication mean to you?
If there is any indispensable insight with which a couple should absolutely take heed, it is that they should try to keep open, at all costs, the lines of communication between them.
A marriage can be likened to a large house with many rooms. The hope of a couple is to use and enjoy these rooms as we do in a comfortable home so that they will serve the many activities that make up your shared life. In many marriages, doors are found to be locked – they represent areas of the relationship that couples are unable to enter. Attempts to open these doors often lead to failure and frustration.
So the couple resign themselves to living together in only a few rooms that can be opened easily, leaving the rest of the house, with all its promising possibilities, unexplored and unused.
There is however a master key that will open every door. It must be forged by each couple together, and this can be very difficult.
This is the great art of effective marital communication.
The three components of communication must be complementary. One researcher suggested the following breakdown of the importance of the three components. The percentages indicate how much of the message is sent through each one.
We communicate on five different levels, from shallow clichés to deep personal comments. Hang-ups, such as fear, apathy, or a poor self-image keep us at the shallow level. If we can be freed from our restrictions, we can move to the deeper more meaningful level.
We are content to tell others what someone else has said, but we offer no personal information on these facts. We share gossip and little narrations, but we do not commit ourselves to how we feel about them.
Ideals & Judgments
Feelings & Emotions
At this level we share how we feel about the facts, ideas and judgments. Our feelings underneath these areas are revealed. For us to really share ourselves with other individuals, we must move to this level of communication.

When do you feel most like communicating at levels two or one?
17 The first to present his case seems right, till another comes forward and questions him.
11 Simpletons only learn the hard way, but the wise learn by listening. [The Message]
19 My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,
