  2. Setting • The setting takes place in Philadelphia at high school. The time period takes place in the afternoon and mainly at night time. The main character Ashley lives in a very rich neighborhood including her friends.

  3. Characters • Ashley- The main character in the story. Her personality is very stuck up and doesn't care about anyone but herself until it comes to Nat needing her help for prom. She has blonde hair and very pretty eyes. • TJ- Ashley’s boyfriend in the story. He has kind of the same personality as Ashley, except he is very popular. TJ always wears a blue hoodie with a silver chain. He has brown hair and gorgeous eyes Ashley says.

  4. Characters (continued) • Nat- She is very gossipy and has a crush on TJ. She is the president of the student council and is organized. Her personality is extremely up-tight and her physical characteristics include brown hair and green eyes.

  5. Plot: Conflict • The problem in the story is that the math teacher steals the money they have raised to decorate the prom. So Natalie asks Ashley to help raise the money in 11 days so that they will have enough money to create the best prom ever. • Will they raise enough money or not? • TJ and Ashley break up.

  6. Plot: Resolution • It turns out that they raise enough money for the prom and create the prom in the cafeteria. Ashley at first decides not to go to the prom, but when Nat begs her, she goes ahead and goes to the prom. TJ turns out being there and they get back together. It was the best prom ever!

  7. Your Opinion • My opinion of the book was that it was one of the best books I have ever read. I personally think the book was better than the movie.

  8. About the Author 1.Laurie became a writer because her teacher taught her haiku when she was a little girl. 2. Has won many awards for many of her books. 3. Laurie’s first book she wrote was “Speak”. 4. Laurie fell in love with her husband at three-years old. 5. Laurie’s favorite cartoon character is Spiderman.

  10. Summary • Ashley really doesn't care about prom until the math teacher is busted for stealing the money for prom. So Nat asks Ashley to help raise the money for prom in the next 11 days. Will they raise enough money for prom or not?
