  1. Some Points For Those With Mobility Issues To Consider A life without movement is, for by far the most of us, virtually unimaginable. We accept that our bodies are able to move from one position or place to another at will; it is almost a given. But unfortunately, there may come a time when it is no longer guaranteed for us to move freely, to move without difficulty, a time when we may suffer from being mobility impaired. It may be that we suffer from mild immobility or limited movement, but for many, it is more serious and help is needed. The help that one requires will depend on the severity of the mobility impairment or limitations. For some, a walking stick will be enough. There are, as it is, many to choose from in different styles and price ranges, some with, and others without, a function to let you fold it up or fold out a seat, for instance. Of course, in very serious cases, one would need a medical opinion from a doctor, an orthopaedic surgeon, or another specialist that attends to issues such as movement. They may advise treatment or recommend using one of the various aids that assist those with mobility issues, for example, a walker or wheelchair. There are many choices in this regard, in terms of features and how much more mobility it allows the individual. Some are pushed, others are put in motion by rolling your hands over the wheels, while others, still, are motorised. A lot depends on the budget and expectations of the individual too, but everybody can take heart: there are different solutions, even for those that can simply not afford the most expensive and most modern options. Almost everybody can be helped. In addition to walking sticks, wheelchairs, and walkers there are often other considerations for the person with mobility issues to consider. Think, for example, of uneven surfaces, or surfaces with a step or more to negotiate. If not done correctly, this may lead to the person falling and hurting themselves – with even very serious consequences. Therefore, different ramps as aids should be considered too. There are ramps for wheelchairs, whether they are channel ramps, or threshold ramps, or ramps made for the person that moves around on a mobility scooter. Ramps help ensure that you move safely from one level to another, also with confidence and the knowledge that you are not about to hurt yourself. Such ramps should be considered whether you live on your own in your house or apartment, or in a retirement village where a number of citizens may be candidates for walkers and wheelchairs, or in

  2. hospitals and convalescent homes. In fact, ramps are essential in most circumstances where walkers and wheelchairs are used, since few surfaces and spaces guarantee easy movement. There are different options in this regard, some more expensive than others. Some ramps may not be as easy and practical as others, and some individuals may feel they do not need a ramp that urgently, but as time progresses it can change, so it is always a great idea to keep an open mind and look at the options to ensure you get a ramp that can be easily negotiated for maximum mobility. Ramps can be bought from retailers or companies that specialise in these issues; they can be built specifically for an individual, or for a disabled person with their own needs. Options exist for most, also for many with serious disabilities. Most that use a walker or wheelchair can benefit from a ramp in their home or in spaces where they often move around. Thankfully today there are different aids to assist the mobility impaired. They can be bought from shops on the high street or ordered from good websites that specialise in aiding those with such problems.
