  6. Roof Specifications THATCH ROOF SPECIFICATIONS: Thatch to be supplied according to the following specifications: 1.1 Type: Selected Cape (Albertinia) reed. (Thamnocortus Insignis) 1.2Thickness: 180 mm – 200 mm 1.3 Bluegum laths: 35-50 mm, CCA treated (unvarnished) Treated (SABS approved) thatching rope also to be used. FLASHING AND RIDGINGS The quotation also includes the supply and fit of cement ridgings as well as galvanized sheeting should it be necessary. CEMENT CAPPING The quotation includes the installation of a cement capping, using wire mesh and DPC 25 mic plastic.

  7. Guarantee & Duration GUARANTEE Our craftsmanship and materials used for the construction of the thatchroof unit is guaranteed for a period of two (2) years after completion date of project. This guarantee however excludes the following: any damages incurred to the roof due to weather conditions, i.e. rain, wind and storm damages as well as damages incurred due to negligence on behalf of the owner. Our guarantee also excludes any damages or repair costs involved due to a default of an existing gutter system which may result in leakages of the proposed roof as well as any latent defects of an existing structure and/or building not erected by Superior Thatchers. DURATION OF PROJECT The estimated duration of the project is approximately: Thatch roof unit ± 7 - 9 working days Superior Thatchers reserves the right to amend the commencement and/or execution date of the project should unfavorable weather conditions withhold the commencement and/or execution date of the project.

  8. Structure & Safety TIMBER STRUCTURE The timber structure will be erected with SABS approved, CCA treated wood. Timber to be treated according to SABS standards 457 (1982). The structure will be treated with approved outdoor wood varnish at an additional fee as indicated in the above quotation. Timber structure will be erected in accordance with thatch roof specifications. The timber structure and all materials used for the construction of the thatch roof unit remains the property of Superior Quality Thatchers until full and final payment has been made. FIRE RETARDANT MATERIAL We confirm that approved fire retardant loomstate glass cloth is thatched in-between the thatchlayers, or alternatively the thatchroof may be treated with CSIR approved fire retardant spray, which also prolongs the life expectancy of the thatch.
