Get an Advanced Credential • Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) • Administered by National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE) • Qualifications • ≥2 years experience as registered pharmacist • ≥1,000 hours documented diabetes education • Volunteer hours and mentoring count toward experience requirement. • ≥400 documented hours in most recent year preceding application • Minimum 15 clock hours of diabetes continuing education (CE) activities in 2 years preceding certification • Renew certification every 5 years http://www.ncbde.org/eligibility.cfm

  4. Get an Advanced Credential • Board Certification–Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM) • Administered by AACE • Available to licensed nurses, dietitians, and pharmacists with advanced degree (e.g., PharmD) • Awarded by 175-item examination • Need ≥500 clinical practice hours in advanced diabetes management in 2 years preceding examination • Renew certification every 5 years http://www.diabeteseducator.org/ProfessionalResources/Certification/BC-ADM/
