  2. What is a Solar Water Heater ? • Solar Water Heater is a device that helps in heating water by using the energy coming from the SUN. • Solar energy is totally free. Solar energy (sun rays) is used for heating water at zero operating cost. • In general solar water heaterconsists of a solar collector that is fixed on the roof  of a building and connected to a insulated water-storage tank

  3. Components Of Solar Water Heaters The solar water heaters are manufactured in different designs. All the designs have some common components as: • Supporting Stand • Solar Collectors (Absorbs solar energy coming from the sun) • Insulated Storage Tank (to effectively store hot water) • Connecting Pipes and Instrumentation, etc.

As the collector is hotter than the water inside the tank exchange process begins. • In this process, the hot water goes upwards because of its low density and due to gravity, the cold water with upper density moves down from the water tank. • Solar collectors are arranged in a series-parallel arrangement. • This combination helps to produce a huge quantity of hot water. It’s efficiency is maximum during the summer season.

  10. Evacuated Tube Collector • Evacuated tube collectors consists of glass tubes • These insulated glass tubes absorbs the solar radiations. • The idea behind this type of solar hot water system is that vacuum is a good insulator.
