  2. Instructions for writing an acrostic poem. 1. Read the example and create your own on the next slide. Lest we forget ... An acrostic is a poem built on a special word. The word is written vertically. Then, each letter of a word serves as the first letter of a line of the poem. For example: Serving underneath our flag, Obeying orders that they might overcome the enemy, Living, Dying, In defense of freedom. They Endure against all odds. May we ever Remember their Sacrifices.
