  2. How does education work in Afghanistan? • Education in Afghanistan lacks from poverty, war, and woman’s rights • Girls and woman were forbidden to learn • The studies were dominated by religion instead of science, history ect. • The Taliban took over from what Islam believed

  3. How does education work in Afghanistan? • The Taliban wanted to burn and shut down man schools in Afghanistan • Many schools lack proper facilities • The number of teachers is low in many areas • Many Afghanistans don’t think woman should have the right to education

  4. School System • Afghanistan has two systems for education • Religion is taught by Mulas • Mulas teach the Koran reading, writing, and mathmatics • The other system was made in 1964 • Children of the age 7 to 15 are obligated to have education

  5. School System • In 2001 only 58% of 15 years or older new how to read and write • After Taliban schools have been remade and they have enforced better laws for education • The education lasts for 6 years

School System • If children pass “entrance exam” they are aloud to move into the next school which is 7th to 9th then after finishing that you move onto the next school which only has 10th an 12th in it • The kids can finish schooling in 6 main universities • Many woman currently have been trying to get into a university

  7. Literacy Rates • For females in 2010 the literacy rate was 18% • For males in 2010 the literacy rate was 42% • There were only about 180,000 teachers teaching general education in 2010 • From 2002 to 2010 the literacy rate increased by 30%

  8. Literacy Rates • There is training for adults who need help on literacy currently • There is an outreach program that by the ministry in Afghanistan which gives you twelve courses for education per year • Around 5 million kids ages 7 to 18 are currently not in school being educated

  9. Literacy Rates • There were around only 600,000 students in literacy for 2010 • There were only 77 schools in 2010 • Only 180,000 teachers teaching general education

  10. Percent of population that finishes school • There was only 12,000 school buildings by 2010 • There are not many children and kids who have graduated in the years but the percentage is increasing through the years

  11. Percent of population that finishes school • More than 3,000 woman have graduated from accredited schools • Only about 15% of students graduate in Afghanistan

  12. Percent of population that finishes school • In 2005 the rate for completion of school is 37.7% • 2005 completion of school for males was 53.5% • Female completion for school was 20.8%

  13. Education • Woman have not been treated right in Afghanistan especially for educational purposes • Teaching staff, schools, and woman’s education have been increasing due to fundraising and charities held for them

  14. Education • The education in this country is not the best after all its been through • After all the charity, the increases have been great for the peoples education who live there
