Why be concerned?. Too many road accidents occur every year during Ramadan due to driver falling asleep, tiredness and fatigued especially in the afternoon. This is mainly caused by lack the change in lifestyle due to Ramadan leading to loss of concentration and then fatigue. Know the Rules.

  1. Why be concerned? Too many road accidents occur every year during Ramadan due to driver falling asleep, tiredness and fatigued especially in the afternoon. This is mainly caused by lack the change in lifestyle due to Ramadan leading to loss of concentration and then fatigue.

Know the Rules • Colleagues have been hurt and killed because they did NOT follow the simple driving rules. • We do not want this to happen to YOU. • We want you to: • Know • Understand • Follow the road safety rules. • We want you to go home to your family safely. رمضان مبــــــارك RAMADHAN MUBARAK!

  3. Fatigue – The Hidden Killer Once fatigue sets in, there is little you can do about it except STOP at a safe place away from the road as soon as possible and take a break. Make sure you had enough rest

  4. Ramadhan Reminder Why be concerned? Why? The Company has a DUTY to protect you. You have a DUTY to protect yourself and the others. Why are you at risk? Potential excessive working hours. You may be too tired to drive safely due to fasting Driving at night presents a very high risk.

  5. RTA Time of day - 09 Around noon time where tiredness and fatigued goes up and drivers tend to have more accidents

  6. Do not Drive at Night !! Avoid driving at night at all times even while using your private vehicles. Ensure you get authorization of your work related journeys by line supervisor.

  7. Rules for Driving: Dust Code Cant See Don’t Go. Dust code is a life saver

  8. Safe Journey Management A system for planning, authorising and closing out journeys. What? To reduce the risk of accidents and enable emergency response (man lost). Why? All journeys except journeys within towns, within 20km of a work site etc. When Safe Journey Manager completes Journey Plan, gives copy to driver. How? Driver rings Journey Manager on reaching destination.

  9. The Driver The driver must: • Have valid ROP Driving License (for vehicle type). • Have a valid PDO Driving Permit (blacktop/graded). • If you are fasting, avoid driving for long hours. Take more frequent rest breaks. Follow speed limits and road signs. • Avoid driving after a heavy meal when you break fast. • Ensure that you get adequate sleep, go to bed earlier than normal. • STOP AND TAKE REST IF YOU ARE TIRED after informing the Journey Manager. • .

The Driver • Check that people in the vehicle always wear their seatbelt. • NEVER use a GSM (NOT even hands-off GSM). • Don't drive faster than the conditions allow or the posted speed limit. • Never overtake in dust. • Ensure you get authorization of your journeys by line supervisor. • Follow journey plan, inform journey managers of any changes

Rules for the Passengers Rules for the passenger: • You MUST wear your seatbelt. • DO NOT distract the driver. • DO STOP the driver if he takes risk or violates rules. • DO help the driver: point out a hazard. • DO act like a buddy: Alert Driver if fatigued/dozing Journey Manager: • Journey Manager to coach drivers to take special care during Ramadan. Make sure drivers are fit to drive.
