  8. Opportunities • Problems & Opportunities • Creating a daytime student population at the Off-Campus sites is very important to achieving growth targets.. • Students need to complete enrollment processes including Assessment and Matriculation without traveling to the Suisun Valley campus. • Become “the” choice for lower division education in Solano County.

  9. Business Concept • Delivering Educational Programs that are convenient and accessible throughout the County will become ever more important to SCC and its ability to grow.

  10. Competition • Increased competition from University of Phoenix, Chapman, St. Mary’s, Heald Business College, Pacific Union create need to emphasize “cost” benefits of SCC. • Must be competitive in Distance Learning environment. (Teleconferencing to sites) • SCC advantage lies in its proximity to students: Vallejo site, TAFB, Vacaville Center and the Suisun Valley Campus (FF/Suisun)

  11. Goals & Objectives • 3-Year Goals • Offer an AA in Liberal Arts and a Certificate/AS in Microcomputer Applications at each site • Increase FTES by stated goals over a 3 year period • Develop specific marketing approach to Off-Campus Instruction • Increase students taking classes at Off-Campus sites from 2000 in F99 to 4000 in Fall 2003.

  12. Goals & Objectives: FTES

  13. Goals & Objectives: Revenue

  14. Goals & Objectives: Administrative Costs VJFK admin. Costs

  15. Goals & Objectives: Instructional Costs

  16. Financial Three Year Plan

  17. Resource Requirements • Technology Requirements: One CT Network 1 at each Off-Campus site. • Personnel Requirements: Full-time employees at each site during hours of operation. • Resource Requirements: Class schedules specific to North and South County sites.

  18. Resource Requirements (con’t) • External Requirements: Continued co-operation of TAFB for course offerings at the Travis University Center

  19. Risks & Rewards • Risks • Declining enrollment affecting SCC financial stability. • Political risk if support/presence is not perceived by the community. • Addressing Risk • Embark on focused program to increase enrollment at Off-Campus sites as well as the Suisun Valley Campus.

  20. Risks & Rewards (con’t) • Rewards • Continued enrollment growth toward targeted FTES. • Community awareness of SCC availability for Instructional Programs • Increased probability of state funding for a permanent Vacaville Center.

  21. Key Issues • Near Term • Implement Liberal Arts and CIS certificate/ degree programs at all three sites. • Establish our own site in South County near I-80 corridor. • Full-Time employees at site during hours of operation. • Increase number of sections by one third each of the next three years.

  22. Key Issues (con’t) • Long Term • Hire Full- Time Off-Campus Administrator to direct these programs.

  23. Decisions • Who will make the decision to move on this plan or a variation of it? • Near term critical need to address how VJFK is administered in the evening. • The District is at risk in the current plan. • This plan can be effectively implemented if the District gives the approval and needs to be monitored annually to measure its success. • To do nothing is to fall behind in serving our communities.
