Overview • Official reason: Open calls are being issued to extend expertise and invite new partners to carry out certain tasks within the project • Unofficial reason: They are a means to increase visibility of the project • Selected partner(s) are eligible for funding • Total funding is ca. 0.6 million €, distributed over two call rounds

  5. Call 1: “Consuming Linked Data” (i) We currently have vacancies in the consortium for partners with comprehensive research and technological expertise in the area of "Consuming Linked Data.” • Call open: The call was open for submissions from 1st January 2011 • Deadline for submission of proposals: 16th February 2011; 17h00 Brussels time • Expected duration of participation in project: 4 to 12 months, starting earliest in June 2011 • Proposal format: proposals can include one or more organizations eligible for EU funding, and should have an indicative funding between €15,000 and €100,000

Call 1: Results (i) • PlanetData Call 1 “Consuming Linked Data” took place in 2011 • 37 proposals submitted… • … out of which 36 eligible for evaluation • proposers from 17 countries • 11 external to PlanetData evaluators took part… • …in f2f evaluation meetings, for 3 days in February 2011 in Innsbruck

Call 1: Results (ii) • 3 projects with 4 new full partners joined the PlanetData consortium (from October 2011): • Consumingand Quality Assessment of Linked Data in Urban Environments through Games with a Purpose (CEFRIEL) • ConsumingandImprovingNorwegian Linked Open Data for Regional Development and Environmental FriendlyBehavior (Computasand SINTEF) • ParkMe: Linked Open Parking Data (Open University)

  9. Call 2: Schedule • Call open: Full details will be published on the PlanetData website by 12th August 2012. The call will be open for submissions from 22nd August 2012 • Deadline for submission of proposals: 26th September 2012; 17h00 Brussels time • Expected duration of participation in project: 4 to 12 months • Proposal format: proposals can include one or more organizations eligible for EU funding.

  10. Call 2: Topics • Scope likely a combination of research and impact creation topics, broader than Call 1 • A dedicated workshop with invited experts and the PlanetData consortium was held on November 14, 2011 in Vienna • Further roadmapping workshops planned in 2012 • Currently there is no obvious hot topic.
