  1. Allied Bar Code System For time / activity recording

  2. What are the issues facing data recording in Allied Health • Often inaccurate • Recorded at end of day / week / month • Poor memory of events • Difficult to use effectively • Slow / no feedback • Inflexible, outdated systems • Too time consuming • Laborious keying of data • Multiple steps in recording

  3. What do we need? • Accurate entry • Recorded at time of intervention • Improved usefulness • Immediate / rapid feedback • Easy to add more information / use in projects • Reduce time and effort to record • Minimise keystrokes • Cheap • Minimal training required

  4. Allied BarCode System • Staff time / activity recording • For hospitals with bar-coded patient records • Integrates with existing time recording system

  5. What can it do? • As simple as scanning each patient to start appointment • Handles group consultations • Records time spent on teaching & training, research, and management • Flexible – easy to modify for special projects

  6. How does it work? • Device knows the time, records when each barcode scanned • Staff member downloads scans at end of day • Creates editable appointments in Outlook-style calendar

  7. Physiotherapy example • Start intervention by scanning patient barcode • End session and start next session by scanning next patient barcode • Start CSM activity by scanning a special CSM barcode • Etc… • Download to PC at end of day

  8. Occupational Therapy example • Start group intervention by scanning “Group Start” barcode • Scan each patient’s barcode • Scan stop barcode when done • If student involved, student scans same barcodes using his/her own scanner • Etc… • Download to PC at end of day

  9. What does the software look like? Easy one-click submission to your server, ours, or a file

  10. Summary of Allied Health Barcode Scanner Saves time, improves accuracy Records patient barcodes directly $3000 per organisation per year for the software $200 / year for the scanner
