Math Workshop: ~ I can count objects that are the same. ~ I can count objects to 5. Reading Workshop: ~ I can actively engage in group reading activities with purpose and understanding. Skills Block (Phonics): ~ I can read the sight word – “play”. ~ I can identify the sound of “P”. ~ I can print upper & lowercase letter “Pp” Snack ~ Please make sure to send in your snack on your snack day. We have our snack in the morning about 10:00am. Morning Drop Off in Car Circle 7:30am – ~ Continue to crate two lines entering car circle. ~ Continue to merge into one line to drop off students. ~ Pull your vehicle all the way around the side walk to drop off students. ~ This will allow 7-8 students to exit cars at one time. ~ Pull to the yellow marked area if you have to wait, buckle or unbuckle. Morning Walk-Ins 7:30am– ~ Park in spaces in front of school. ~ Sign in ~ Wait in lobby until 7:55am and then go to rooms ~ Those eating breakfast may go to the cafeteria. Safety Issues– ~ Do not allow students to exit the car from the left side – cars could have dropped off before you and will exiting the car circle causing a safety hazard. ~ Do not drop students off in the bus lane. ~ Do no allow students to walk across the bus lane unattended. Tardies– ~ At the elementary level, all students must be walked in and signed in by an adult. Transportation – Please know that I have to go by the transportation notes you made on your registration papers. If you need to make changes you must put it in writing and send it in a note to school. If you have a same day change that needs to be made please email it to wes.trasnportation@boyle.kyschools.us You will receive notification that it has been received. All changes must be received before 2:30 pm each day. Happenings: Remind- Remind is a free service to teachers that allows me to send short text messages to our class. Please go to www.remind.com/join/evermank and follow the directions. You must do this to receive class updates! It is free and private ~ no one will see your phone number, not even me. Water Bottles- Water is good for the brain! Your child can keep a WATER bottle on their table during the day. It MUST be a spill proof bottle and ONLY can water. Extra Set of Clothes – Please send in a complete change of clothes for your child (pants, shirt, underwear, socks) in a zip lock bag. We will hang it in their locker. Sometimes accidents happen.

  2. Dates to Remember: With the beginning of school we will have many safety drills. Please discuss these with your child and reassure them that these are just for practice so that we know how to be safe! August 29 – Fire Drill September 5 – Earthquake Drill September 9 – Severe Weather Drill September 10 – Lock Down Drill September 1 – Labor Day – No School September 11 – Midterm September 18 – Colt’s Cuisine – Fundraiser at Sonic – come and enjoy dinner at Sonic between 5-7:00pm and Sonic will donate a portion of your dinner to WES. September 22-26 – WES Kids Care Week – to benefit Juvenile Diabetes (more info to come) September 25 – Grandparents Day – Grandparents are invited to come to school and see what we are learning – more info to come. September 26 – Kona Ice Make sure you bring your BEE folder to school every day!!!!!!!! Homework:Our main homework will be the nightly reading required by our school-wide home work policy. Please read at LEAST 20 minutes every night and record it in your book log in the BEE folder. The reading log will be checked every Monday. Occasionally there will be something else for the students to do as homework. This week the students are to complete the “My t-shirt” page. Decorate the blank t-shirt on the first page according to the diagram on the 2nd page. Send these t-shirts back to school as soon as you complete them.
