  2. Expresiones para pedir direcciones • When we ask or tell directions, we often speak with strangers. In order to be polite we’ll focus on using the Ud. form. • A suitable introductory phrase to ask directions: • Por favor, ¿puede decirme…? • Please, can you tell me…?

  3. Por favor, ¿puede decirme… • cómo ir a….? (how to go to…?) • cómo llegar a …. ? (how to arrive at…?)

  4. Mandatos (Ud.) para dar direcciones • (tomar) Tome Take • (subir) Suba Go up • (bajar) Baje Go down • (doblar) Doble Turn • (seguir) Siga Continue/Follow • (ir) Vaya Go • (cruzar) Cruce Cross

  5. POR EJEMPLO… • Tome la Calle Corona. (la avenida, el paseo, el camino) = Take Corona Street. • Tome la Calle Corona hacia… = Take Corona Street toward… • el norte - el noreste • el sur - el sureste • el este -el noroeste • el oeste -el suroeste

  6. Suba por la Avenida Corona. = Go up Corona Avenue. • Baje porel Paseo Goya. = Go down Goya Boulevard.

  7. Siga/Vaya todo derecho. = Continue/Go straight ahead. • Siga/Vaya (todo derecho) hasta llegar a…= • Continue/Go (straight) until you get to… • Siga… = Continue… • al norte -al noreste • al sur -al sureste (sudeste) • al este -al noroeste • al oeste -al suroeste (sudoeste)

  8. Doble a la derecha en la Calle Martí. = • Turn right on Martí Street. • Doble a la izquierda en el semáforo.= • Turn left at the traffic light. • Doble a la derecha en la esquina de la Calle Cortez con la Avenida Bolívar. = • Turn right at the corner of Cortez Street and Bolívar Avenue.

(the square) • la calle, el paseo, la avenida, el camino (the street, boulevard/drive, avenue, road) • en el semáforo (at the traffic light) • en el cruce de la Calle Segovia y la Calle Quevedo (at the intersection of Segovia Street and Quevedo Street)

Por ejemplo: El Mapa de Madrid • Desde la Estación de Atocha hasta la Plaza de Independencia: • Vaya al oeste en El Paseo Infanta Isabel hasta llegar al Paseo Del Prado. • Doble a la derecha en El Paseo del Prado. • Tome El Paseo del Prado hacia el noroeste hasta llegar a La Plaza de Castillo. • Cruce la plaza hacia la izquierda. • Suba por El Paseo del Prado hasta llegar a la Plaza de Cibeles. • En la Plaza de Cibeles doble a la derecha y cruce la plaza. • Siga todo derecho en la Calle de Alcala hasta llegar a la Plaza de Independencia.
