  1. Exterior and Interior Designing: Striking the Right Balance While Creating Architectural Designs

  2. Introduction • The Gestalt principle suggests that the whole is much more than the sum of its parts. Having said that, each part that understood the whole plays a significant role in enhancing the overall end result. If even one of these parts consists of a deficit, it can hamper the quality of the final outcome. And when it comes to architectural designs, the exteriors and interiors of the structure understood the significant parts of the structure. • Reputed B. Arch colleges help students to strike the right balance between exterior and interior designs to obtain a perfectly aesthetic and symmetrical structure. Here is a look at exterior and interior designing in architecture, and the distinct role of each in creating the intended spaces and structures:

  3. Exterior Designing: Setting the First Impression: - • It has been rightly said that “the first impression is the last impression.” Exterior designing is all about setting the right first impression for the building or space in the minds of its first-time visitors. • As the name suggests, exterior designing deals with the structure and patterns of the external part of the building, sometimes also including its surrounding areas. • From glass windows to ornate pillars and traditional architectural features to modern extravaganza, an architect may choose to incorporate the most interesting features to enhance its aesthetic appeal.

  4. Rather than being a whole new dimension it itself, modern architecture is now a harmonious integration of the traditional architectural elements and modern advancements, where the final objective is to fulfill the modern architectural requirements in the best ways possible. The best architecture degree courses in India provide their students with an objective view of traditional as well as modern architectural schools and tenets. • While the design and structure of the edifice is an integral part of exterior designing, this subset of architecture extends itself to include the designing of the external spaces surrounding the structure. Thus, it may also include the conceptualization of backyards and green spaces, terraces and foyers, parking lots and alleyways built around the main structure. Such an extensive architectural model paves the way for an organized end-to-end construction of the exteriors of a building.

  5. Interior Designing: Unravelling the World Within: - • Now that we have glanced through the sprawling exteriors, it is time to venture inside the building! Enter interior designing and its essential role in architecture. • Interior designing understood the look, feel and detailing involved in the interior spaces of the building. While the external appeal of the structure is important in terms of its overall aesthetic appeal, the interior space is where the occupants as well as guests would spend a substantial amount of time. This explains why B. Voc colleges across the board pay so much attention to interior décor and the various minute aspects involved in the same.

  6. Designing the interiors of a place requires an architect to carefully study the purpose that the place aims to fulfill and the requirements of its prospect occupants or inhabitants. Then, the architect integrates this information with his / her knowledge of different architectural approaches and comes up with an aesthetic and practical solution. • The best colleges for interior designing would emphasize that planning of the interiors not only involves designing its rooms or apartments but also planning the other significant structures such as stairways, corridors, passages, receptions, emergency exits, elevators etc. These elements provide the necessary amenities required for modern-day sustenance and enhance the convenience of inhabiting the space.

  7. Conclusion:- • Interior and exterior designing are like the two sides of a coin - both these elements complement one another to produce a safe, secure, comfortable, and aesthetic space to inhabit. As an established B. Arch college in India, Aditya College has always focused on inculcating in its students the importance of exterior and interior designing in achieving architectural finesse.
