  1. EVALUATION OF FITNESS EQUI – TEST

  2. With training, La decrease for a same speed 2’00 1’40 1’25

  3. With training, HR decreases for a same speed V200 V200 2’00 1’40 1’25

  4. Examples • Strong response to training : Nidorina • Weak response to training : Oxalide • A typical 2 y old : Rocabar • Effect of training and detraining (interest of progressivity) : Padre • Low HR associated to respiratory pb :queros • Stability high HR4 : oraison • Best test : Jag

  5. Programmation of training

  6. Determination of working HR HR4 HR2 V2 V4

  7. Effects of training * Delay the onset of fatigue * Develop maximum of aerobic capacity  Endurance training * Increase the capacity to tolerate acidosis (buffering) * Increase the capacity to use lactates  Sprint training

  8. Endurance training Increase aerobic capacity = delay the lactic treshold

  9. HR2work Goal : * Start young horses * After a break * After races or hard works

  10. HR2 work * contents : - Warm up 10 mn • 2 steps of 4 to 6 mn at HR2 with recovery between • Active recovery 10 mn * Results : - Lactates : 1,5 et 2,5 mmol/l - HR between 170 and 200 bpm

  11. HR4 work Goal : • Increase of aerobic capacity • Maintain a level of fitness

  12. HR4 work * Contents : - Warm up 10 min • 3 steps 3 to 5 mn at HR4 with recovery between steps • Active recovery * Results : HR between 185 and 210 bpm Lactates : 3,5 et 4,5 mmol/l

  13. Speed work * Prerequirements : • 2 months of aerobic training • A sufficient V4 * Contents : - Warm up of 15 mn - 1 step of 3 min HR4 - IT (30/30) with HR and speed increasing - Active recovery 15 mn

  14. Speed work * Results : -HR near HR max • Lactates between 15 and 20 mmol/l * After : • Recovery work : HR2 (controlled) • Control impact (behaviour, CK, legs…)

  15. Interests of HRmeters • More precision in the training intensity (depth, design, heat and wind, specific equipment like resistance bikes) • Individual training • Specific training
