Supplies Needed
  • A can of compressed air. ( A 10 oz. can generally cost from $5-$10 and you can get them at any hardware store)
  • Endust for Electronics or any other household plastic or metal cleaning fluid.
  • A face mask if you are allergic to dust.
  • A vacuum.

Steps
  • Step 1 – Shut down the computer. Remove all of the peripherals.
  • Step 2 – Take off the outer case. (Unscrew screws)
  • Step 3 – Ground yourself by touching a metal part of the chassis.
  • Step 4 – Vacuum any loose dust out of the computer case.
  • Step 5 – Spray compressed air on the fan blades, the power supply chassis, drive chassis, and circuit boards.
  • Step 6 – Vacuum any remaining dust that the compressed air didn’t remove.
  • Step 7– Put the case back on the computer and reconnect any peripherals.

Be careful while vacuuming inside the computer because the internal components are very delicate and can break easily. So don’t jam the vacuum in too hard.
