Remember, progress reports are only a snapshot of where your child currently is with the graded assignments so far this quarter. Functional Text: We will begin exploring functional text over the next few weeks. We are in need of many “real life” examples: menus, letters, invitations, recipes, directions… Food Drive: bring in boxed/canned food and toiletries to support those in need. Also, it is a contest between ASU fans and U of A fans! Who will win?! Now through the 20th. What We’re Learning: Story:Watermelon Day Genre:Realistic Fiction Focus skill: making inferences Spelling: consonant diagraphs gn, kn, wr Math:Measurement: inches, feet, yards, centimeters, meters. Measuring with the appropriate tool/unit, estimation, comparing, plotting information of a line plot. And addition and subtraction strategies. Writing:Functional Text Science:water cycle Social Studies:Westward Expansion Our Schedule: 8:30- Arrival/Morning routine 9:10- Specials 9:40- Whole group Lang. arts 10:30- Recess/snack 10:45- Small group reading 12:00- lunch recess/lunch 12:40- Read aloud 1:00- Math 2:00- Writing/science/S.S. 3:00-Dismissal Specials This Week: Monday: Music Tues: P.E.
