  27. Reading the Summary Report Cont. The applicant scored 44 on anticipating help from kin, 75 on anticipating help from her place of worship and 63 on anticipating help from professionals. Her scores indicate a low level of potential in having help from kin, a high level of potential for having help from her place of worship, and a high level of potential for having help from professionals compared to experienced foster mothers in the normative group.   28. Interpreting the results This applicant’s anticipated level of help for fostering from her place of worship is a strength for fostering. Her anticipated help from professionals also falls in the high range compared with experienced foster parents. Her anticipated help from family members is low compared with experienced foster mothers. Results indicate that her primary source of help for fostering will be her place of worship and professionals. Families with low levels of support from kin may find that they do not have enough support for fostering. Further exploration is needed to find out about how her family views her decision to be a foster parent. What follow-up questions would you ask during the home study interview? Back Forward
