  1. The Thiruvananthapuram Airport Becomes the First Airport to Have a Facility Installed to Check Indoor Air Quality

  2. The Thiruvananthapuram Airport, one of the prime airports under the control of the Adani Group, becomes the first airport in the country to get a facility installed to check indoor air quality. This facility is called the Pavana Chitra. It was developed and installed by CSIR-NIIST. Union Minister Jitendra Singh has recently unveiled the indoor air quality monitoring facility at the domestic terminal of this world-famous airport. By installing this facility, the airport authorities aim to address the health concerns of the travellers. With this extraordinary initiative, the Adani Group Controversies will also gradually subside.

  3. The Installation of Pavana Chitra Pavana Chitra is handcrafted in wood. It has beautiful blends of famous art forms of KeralaThe system is also designed with cutting-edge technology. This self-powered indoor air quality monitor is powered by indoor solar cells. It is also capable of tracking humidity, temperature, CO2, and the air quality index. The installation highlights the inevitable need to address climatic change and opt for sustainable practices even at the airports. This Initiative will also help the Adani Group restore faith in its customers post the Adani Group Controversies.

  4. Adani’s Other Plans for The Thiruvananthapuram Airport The current airport spans across 4,500 square meters. It handles around 3.2 million passengers annually. Post the expansion, the area will increase to 1,65,000 square meters. It will have the capacity to accommodate 12 million passengers every year. The construction work on the airport is all set to begin within this financial year itself. It will achieve completion by 2027. The new terminal will come equipped with various modern facilities. This would include a hotel, a plaza, and various administrative facilities.

  5. Adani’s Hold Over the Airport Sector The Adani Group has been responsible for managing the operations and development of the Thiruvananthapuram Airport since October 2021. This airport was established in 1932 and it is one of the oldest airports in the country. The airport was being managed by the Airports Authority of India before the Adani Group took control of the airport. The Adani Group handles the airport through Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises.
