  1. Tips to Make a Room Look Bigger Slide 1 Homeowners are often seen complaining about the lack of space or the house being too cluttered, regardless of whether they own a 4 BHK apartment in Ahmedabad or a 2 BHK flat in Mumbai. When a room is decorated, it should be in such a way that it should end up looking airy, bigger, and clutter-free. If you come across a 2 or 3 BHK flat for sale in Ahmedabad, Gurgaon, or any other city, it should not be given up just because it is small. If it fulfils other priorities such as proximity to the place of work and facilities such as schools, hospitals, malls in the vicinity and is well-connected to the other parts, you should go for it. Slide 2 Small spaces have their own benefits. There are multiple reasons why small spaces are preferred: Easy to maintain and keep clean Easy to decorate Easy to organize Exude a warm and cosy feeling A few tips if incorporated while doing up a flat can really give your room a bigger look. Slide 3 Tip 1: Get rid of clutter A small space will appear even more cramped if there is too much stuff lying around. Figure out how to remove things that fall in everyone’s view –don’t let books lie around, put everything inside shelves where they belong. Neatly arrange things that remain out and put the rest behind doors, neatly stacked on shelves or inside your cupboards. When clutter is out of sight, the room automatically appears more open and spacious.

  2. Slide 4 Tip 2: Keep the doors and passageways clear If you cannot look into a particular room because furniture and accessories block your view, it will appear as if the space is closing in on you. Move furniture out of the way and let it not be in the passage or walkways. The ability to stare into one room from another without hindrances will make the area appear spacious. Refrain from selecting bulky furniture pieces. Rather go for ottomans, low tables, and armless chairs. This makes the room look bigger, as the furniture is not overbearing and the floor becomes visible. Slide 5 Tip 3: Select soft and light hues When you select pastel hues and natural colours, they make a room look airy and open. Soft tones of greens and blues are ideal for smaller homes. Choose neutral shades for your drapes, sofas and try and use shades of the same colour family. Delicate colours and cool colours make the room appear more open and spacious. Don’t go for contrasting colours or very bold statement shades, as they are more inclined to breaking up a space and making it look smaller than it is. If your furniture blends with its surroundings, it gives an illusion of a wider room. Slide 6 Tip 4: Allow light to enter the room If any room is well lit, it tends to appear bigger. If you get good sunlight, don’t draw the curtains and get glass balcony doors so maximum light can come in. If the area is not naturally lit, add a lot of artificial lighting and do not go for heavy draperies and upholstery like velvet and colours such as maroon and navy blue. Add a few lamps, recessed lighting, and anything that will light up the room to make it brighter. Slide 7 Tip 5: Add mirrors and reflective surfaces Mirrors make a space look bigger. Put a full-length framed mirror against a wall or frame a large mirror and hang it on the wall. This will give the same effect as an entire mirror wall and the room will appear enlarged. Since light will also bounce off the mirror, the room will be bright and open. Even in your bathrooms, do not use opaque separators for the shower area, use translucent glass that gives a more open space.

  3. Slide 8 A few miscellaneous tips Do not use complicated furniture pieces. Stick to a few simple and large pieces Let the upholstery be a neutral, solid coloured tone or at max, textured. Refrain from over-the-top prints, stripes, and plaids Select sheer fabrics as they allow light to pass and are airy and light Slide 9 The options available to arrange a home are endless. Understand the limitations, optimize the strengths and you will soon have your perfect home.
