  1. SafeLand USA SafeLand USA formed in October, 2004 Established website: www.safelandusa.org Mission: To monitor and continuously improve training standards for the US Land contractor community. Members include Major and Independent E&P Operators, Contractors, Regulators and Industry Organizations

SafeLand USA: A Few Facts • Networks across the country have recognized that to reach our goal of no incidents and no injuries, we must work together. • Operators share Contract companies and workers. • Contract companies are frustrated because they are attending countless orientations covering the same basic information. • Resources will be better spent with less time in orientation and more time training.

SafeLand USA • Members Researched SafeGulf and other established Industry Orientations in the US for several years prior to forming SafeLand. • SafeLand closely Mirrors SafeGulf but maintains separate Identity. • Met with SafeGulf Advisory Group, agreed upon curriculum syllabus and basic orientation content. • Continuing to meet and improve.

SafeLand USA • Adopted established SafeGulf By Laws, delivery methods, instructor audit program, to move forward without re-inventing the wheel. • ARSC, IADC Rig-Pass, PEC Basic, and others meeting the syllabus and delivery criteria will be accepted. • Agreed to keep data in a single database and utilize a picture ID card system.

  5. SafeLand USA • Continuing to work with SafeGulf • ARSC, IADC Rig-Pass, PEC Basic, and others meeting the syllabus and delivery criteria will be accepted. • Working with Industry Networks and Organizations across the Country to promote standardization and solidify reciprocal agreements.

SafeLand USA Orientation Basics • One-Time approximately 8 hour orientation • Competency exam requires 80% to pass • Qualified-Instructor Led • Test-out available for those who wish to demonstrate competence by exam. • Requires 80% to pass. • Orientation covers general information only. • Company and site specific information required by some operators.

SafeLand USA • Separate Site-Specific Orientation Should Include: • Emergency/Incident Management information • Location of Muster Area • Alarm (s) and Procedure (s) • Location of MSDS • Site-Specific Hazards • Basic and Non-Standard PPE Requirements • Current Work on location which might affect the worker • Confined Spaces • Permits being exercised, location and duration • Other potential hazards and information as appropriate • Local Best Practices • JSA/JHA requirements
