Communication of 3Cs:
The entire INMARSAT network operates through a constellation of 9 geo-stationary satellites.
Geo-Stationary Satellite:Orbits in an equatorial plane at exactly the same angular velocity as that of earth’s rotational speed; appears to be fixed at a specific point in the sky when viewed from the earth.
(Distance from surface of the Earth = 35,784 Kms)
INMARSAT users need not to switch satellites throughout the world.
Indian Ocean Region (IOR) or F1: 64 Deg East
Atlantic Ocean Region – East (AOR – E) or F2: 15.5 Deg. West
Pacific Ocean Region (POR) or F3: 178 Deg East
Atlantic Ocean Region – West (AOR – W) or F4: 54 Deg. West

RF Trans-receiver build onto the Top-Cover.
A tracking antenna designed for marine application-Coastal vessel version equipped with Gyro-stabilized antenna platforms
A tracking antenna designed for Vehicle/ Trains/River boats.
High-gain fixed large antenna versions for Land Mobile application.
One Meter parabolic Dish antenna for multiple use.
Intended for small & medium size aircraft.
Diplomats, Aid workers,
Business people, Coastal
Patrols, emergency back-
up services & Disaster Management
Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) transmits Distress alerts when the unit floats free from a sinking vessel or when activated manually and are forwarded automatically to a maritime rescue co-ordination centre within the ship’s locality.
Advantage – Always-on Internet and payment only for amount of data transferred.
Network coverage in 99 countries
Responsible for running Gateways that connect the end-user to terrestrial networks via INMARSAT.
Offer end-user billing & activation services.
Primary distributors of RBGAN services thus necessitating to take care of gateway by INMARSAT.
Play crucial role in delivering INMARSAT services by offering reliable, robust & easy to use hardware.
Integrate INMARSAT-based software solutions into customers existing business.
INMARSAT is forming alliances with global blue-chip organizations having strategic synergy to offer market-driven network & application-based solutions coupled with security, affordability & speed.
INMARSAT Customer Support is available on 24 x 7 basis from LESOs / DPs / NOC to achieve network availability of 99.99% for delivering business critical solutions.
Developed by Kongsberg Defence Communications and Sectra, the NSK200 handset is a combined DECT & GSM telephone, based on the NATO-approved EINRIDE encryption algorithm. In addition to secure voice the NSK200 can also connect to a computer for data transfer.
INMARSAT World Communicator is compatible with the NSK200.
SEAFARERS TRUST INMARSAT WITH THEIR LIVES
INMMARSAT satellites instantly and reliably connect rescue centres with sea faring vessels in distress around the world. The availability of world’s most reliable & flexible system for commercial & safety communication is the ultimate bonus.
Voice & E-mail services to reach out home & family.
Vessel operators can use INMARSAT terminals equipped with integrated GPS functionality for automatic tracking & vessel position reporting.
Modern commercial vessels
multi-million dollar floating assets; require operation & effective management through
TELEMEDICINE:Seriously- ill persons can get access to Doctor on land for diagnosis/expert analysis
SECURITY & SAFETY: Ships fitted with INMARSAT terminal can access security information such as piracy alerts to access to covert security alarms against piracy.
Weather reports & chart updates are delivered via INMARSAT to vessels regularly.
SEA ZONES / AREAS
INMARSAT – A, B, C & F-77:
Initiated at the press of a dedicated button on Ship Earth Station (SES). Distress alert is the routed through LES to an associated RCC ashore.
INMARSAT – E :An L-Band EPIRB transmission between INMARSAT-E & RCC takes less than 2-Minutes.
FLEET F-77: Complies to latest distress & safety requirements of International Maritime organization (IMO) resolution for voice pre-emption & prioritization within the Global Maritime Distress & Safety System (GMDSS) for providing Voice, Fax, Mobile ISDN (128 Kbps-data transfer & remote diagnosis) & Mobile Packet Data Service (MPDS).
APPLICATION: Data Transfer, Internet, LAN & Private network access, E-mail, Fax, Instant messaging, SMS, Voice, Crew Calling, Encryption, Video-conferencing, Store-and-forward video, Remote monitoring, chart & weather updates, Tele-Medicine & GMDSS.
Offers Global telephone, MPDS and enhanced 9.6 Kbps Data & Fax services with INMARSAT Spot-Beam.
FLEET- 55: Uses medium-size antenna, need not to meet IMO regulations & thus do not include GMDSS.
APPLICATION: Data Transfer, Internet, LAN & Private Network Access, E-mail, Fax, Instant messaging, SMS, Voice, Crew Calling, Encryption, Video conferencing , Store-and-forward Video, Remote monitoring, Chart & weather update & Telemedicine.

Swift-64 can offer up to FOUR simultaneous 64 Kbps channels and can be “bonded” to produce 256 Kbps which can be boosted to more than 0.5 Mbps by data acceleration technologies.
V100 multiplexer from Vocality International UK allows up to EIGHT simultaneous phone conversations on Swift- 64 Mobile ISDN (64 Kbps). It uses data compression & dynamic bandwidth allocation to slice single Swift-64 channel into multiple voice channels.
