  4. What is Kurzweil 3000? • A comprehensive reading and learning software • Improves your reading comprehension and retention • User friendly • Easy to learn and use

  5. Kurzweil 3000 Features • Start and stop reading • See and hear text at the same time • Adjust the reading speed (faster or slower) • Magnify the text (zoom-in and zoom-out) • Navigate from page to page (front, middle, and end of the chapters) • Look up a word using the built-in dictionary

Creating a Digital File • Scan Textbook – High Speed Scanner to create an image document • Convert .tif or tiff (Tagged Image File Format) to .kes (Kurzweil) format • Synch digital pages with textbook • Assign the correct reading zones • Remove any digital artifacts (defects) • Edit the underlying text • Burn Kurzweil file to a CD

  9. Kurzweil 3000 Remote License-To-Go • Students install Kurzweil 3000 on their home PC • Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 • Duration of the license is good for one semester • Only 15 Remote License-To-Go available • Issued on a first-come first-serve basis

Procedure for Alternate Media Service • Provide your textbook and classsyllabus to the DSPS office to create a digital file. • Submit your request 15 to 20 school daysin advance to ensure timely delivery of your course materials. • Requests are processed on a first-come first-serve basis and will be placed in the queue in the order received. • Late requests have a longer processing time. • Please submit requests as early as possible.

Blackboard Mobile Central • What is Blackboard Mobile Central? • Consist of the following app: • Class Schedule - browse and search the class schedule. • Campus Map - find any building on campus and use GPS to navigate to it. • Campus News - keep up to date on the latest events on campus. • Campus Directory - quickly find the e-mail address and phone number of any instructor or staff member.
