Bellwork

Dive into the world of linear equations with this comprehensive presentation. Learn about different forms, including Standard Form, Slope-Intercept Form, and Point-Slope Form. Discover how to write equations from given points and slopes while practicing with multiple examples. From familiarizing yourself with the equation formats (like 5x - 3y = -15) to mastering procedures for writing equations for lines that pass through specific points, this guide provides everything you need to excel in understanding linear equations.

  1. Bellwork What do elves learn in school? ?? What Christmas Carol is a favorite of parents? ??

  2. Can you believe it? The ELF-a-bet HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Silent Night HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  3. Writing Linear Equations A Presentation of Yow-mazing Proportions!

  4. Different Ways to Write Linear Equations Standard form Point-Slope Form Slope Intercept Form

  5. What does Standard Form look like? 5x-3y=-15 Ax+By=C 3x+2y=6 x+7y=-14 2x+9y=1 4x-3y=24

  6. What does Slope Intercept look like? y=3x-15 y=mx+b y=3x+6 y=2x-4 y=5x-1 y=x+2

  7. What does Point Slopelook like? y-3=2(x-15) y-5=2(x+6) y-9=5(x-1) y-4=3(x-2)

  8. But really…..we only use POINT SLOPE form to write our equations in other ways….

  9. For Example: Write an equation (in slope intercept form) of a line that goes through the points (-3,3) and (1,2).

  10. For Example: Write an equation (in slope intercept form) of a line that has a slope of 3 and a y-intercept of -4.

  11. For Example: Write an equation (in slope intercept form) of a line that goes through the points (-3,3) and (1,2).

  12. For Example: Write an equation (in slope intercept form) of a line that goes through the points (-4,-7) and (-2,-3).

  13. For Example: Write an equation (in slope intercept form) of a line that goes through the points (2,3) and (4,5).

  14. For Example: Write an equation (in slope intercept form) of a line that has a slope of -5 and y-intercept of 2.

  15. In closing….. What is the procedure for writing the equation of a line if you are given two points?
