  2. 1985 • Order No. 436 adopted • FERC continued to publish maximum lawful prices • Major classes of filings included • Purchased gas adjustment clauses • Take-or-pay • Voluntary transportation programs • Ten pipelines filed major rates cases • NGPL applied to interconnect its Amarillo and Gulf Coast systems

  3. 1995 • Pipelines filed reports on first year of operation under Order No. 636 • Pipelines applied to spin-off or spin-down transmission facilities to gathering • Columbia emerged from bankruptcy • Market-based rates proposed • Development of market hubs • Numerous applications for storage facilities • 14 pipelines filed major rate cases

  4. 2005 • Pipeline expansions • Only 5 pipelines filed major rate cases • Increased attention to gas quality issues • Increased market monitoring • Numerous LNG proposals

  5. IPAA at FERC • Pushing for more frequent pipeline rate review • Active in gas quality discussions • Watching market monitoring activities to ensure that regulations do not unfairly burden small producers
