  1. ENC 1102 Agenda for Feb. 5 • Daily Objective: Create a story geared toward a specific audience. • Daily Assignments: • Students who have not gotten a Literature book or Elements of Literature book I now have enough copies; please sign one out. • Students who just joined the class should turn in the final draft of their Brave New World essay tonight; if you would like to speak to me about it—and you probably should—talk to me as you work on your short story. It is, again, obvious some of you did not read the book and are just writing gobbledygook. Remember that unlike your grade in AP or another high school class, your semester grade in dual enrollment becomes part of your COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT. If you make a C—you now have a 2.0 GPA when you start college. If you make a D or F—you will need to retake the class. • In a group, you should create a short story (geared toward children) with a moral ending. Try to use some of the templates available on Word/Powerpoint/Publisher 2013 on the laptops if you would like. You may also draw or use construction paper. We will share these the second half of class. • Read “The Rich Brother” on your own. We will “debate” who is the richer brother after you have read it. Be prepared to argue either side, as I will put you into a different group to prove it.

ENC 1102 for February 7 • Daily Objective: To appreciate early feminist literature of the twentieth century, since we are modern twenty-first century citizens. • Daily Assignments: • Read “The Yellow Wallpaper” and create your own yellow wallpaper in a group • Begin reading “A Good Man is Hard to Find” on own (we will finish it next week)

AP Agenda for February 4/5 • Daily Objective: To understand what makes a rhetorical analysis comparison/contrast essay. • Daily Assignments: • Finish working on grammar exercises and turn them in (first 30 minutes) • Go over New Yorker Cartoon on Thanksgiving (p. 301) • Begin going over Comparison/Contrast Writing tips (p. 299) and do group activity on Comparison/Contrast (p. 321b) • Warning: We will write AP Essay #9 (a comparison/contrast) on February 11/12; we will do Valentine’s and Anti-Valentine’s Activities on February 13/14.

AP Agenda for February 6/7 • Daily Objective: To continue to understand how to effectively write a comparison/contrast rhetorical analysis essay. • Daily Assignments: • Finish group activity on comparison/contrast; respond to other essays posted on discussion board • If time, do AP MC Practice

  5. AP Agenda for February 8 • Daily Objective: To fully understand what makes for effective comparison/contrast writing. • Daily Assignments: • Read comparison/contrast articles in Patterns, starting with Dearly Disconnected; discuss; do activity
