Job duties Blood Bank Technician Duties Store blood draws and maintain documented records Technicians will have the ability to work with patients , to make sure they are comfortable during their procedure and monitoring vital signs Blood Bank Technician prepare , collect, analyze, and sample blood Treat patients that are suffering chemotherapy, surgeries, trauma’s and loss of blood. Perform complex medical laboratory tests for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Testing donated blood before it’s able to be used in transfusions

Education required To become a Blood Bank Technician you need the following: Undergraduate degree as minimum educational requirements Degree In healthcare technology 4 year degree 4-6 years of schooling After graduation a national examination for phlebotomist certificate Degree in medical field

  4. Salary As of June 2012 average salary for a Blood Bank Technician is $39,000. Specialists in blood banking range from a national average of $50,000 for bench techs and $60,000 for supervisors to $70,000 for managers. Salaries may be higher in certain regions of the country. Your benefits , employer, and industry location also depends on your pay IT DEPENDS ON THE STATE YOUR WORKING IN!

Special certification and license Must have a certified license in medical technology Must be certified by the Board of Registry Associates degree required or certificate from a technical school or specialty program Passing a national examination for phlebotomist certification Different states will require you to have licensure requirements Some may require a license or some type of registration from the health department

Needs for the career Need to be able to work consistent hours Need to be able to be on call in case of a emergency , that may add on more hours to the ones you have already worked Need to be able to work within the public, conducting interviews , and testing blood samples to help benefit to a donor Technicians also need to be thoroughly versed in OSHA regulations

  8. HOW DO I FEEL ? The career of been a Blood Bank Technician sounds interesting . It just don’t fit the job occupation I see myself going into . Dealing with blood seems like a huge matter . It’s just not something I could contribute to doing in the near future.
