  1. A Look Back as Acucraft Fireplaces Celebrates 40 Years in Business In late January 2019, Acucraft Fireplaces celebrated its 40th anniversary of providing homeowners, architects, and builders with a premium gas and wood burning fireplace collection. Forty years is a mighty-long time and is no doubt a milestone for the company, so to celebrate, let’s take a look back at some of the most important points in Acucraft Fireplaces’ history and some of the innovative fire features created along the way. Innovation From the Start Could you believe that Acucraft Fireplaces was born from a need for more efficient heating? In the 1970s during the oil crisis, original Acucraft Fireplaces’ owner Roger Hansen was searching for a more cost-effective way to heat his home without needing to rely on expensive gas during the crisis. The result was the Chalet 20 Series, Roger’s first high-tech wood burning fireplace. Initially drawn on a napkin and built with the help of a local Big Lake, Minnesota welder, this first model was highly capable with the ability to heat up to 4,000 square feet using only wood. After others were impressed with this first wood burning fireplace, Acucraft Fireplaces was born in 1979. Making a Splash with Efficiency

  2. After moving to different owners, entrepreneurs Chris and Emily Maxson sought to improve the efficiency of not only their products but the way that Acucraft Fireplaces sold them to customers and architects throughout the world. Rather than working with retailers, Acucraft Fireplaces began selling directly to consumers for a more streamlined process that benefited both sides of the transaction with personalized service and unique fire solutions built to the customers' exacting needs. Mike Maxson, an engineer at Acucraft Fireplaces and Chris Maxson's brother, created the legendary Z-Max in 2000 and it stood as the single most efficient and largest wood burning fireplace on the market. After that Acucraft Fireplaces began expanding its network to over 1,200 log home builders to make a real splash in the industry and establish themselves as the go-to for the best fireplaces in the business. Moving Into Custom Fireplaces A few years after, architects began approaching the company looking for custom fireplaces to match the unique, one-of-a-kind homes that they were designing. Always up for the challenge, Acucraft Fireplaces established their foothold in the custom fireplace market with unique, innovative designs such as their indoor/outdoor two-sided see through fireplace. Since then, Acucraft Fireplaces has continued to push the boundaries and has designed countless custom fire features for indoor and outdoor use in homes and commercial spaces across the country with an emphasis on quality, service, and customization so you can be happy with your fireplace as you use it for years to come.
