Acupuncture is a part of Traditional Chinese Medicine and has been used in china since the Shang Dynasty of 1600 u2013 1100 BC. It became much more widely known and practiced in the West after 1971, when a New York Times journalist was taken ill in China and was treated with acupuncture, after which he wrote an article about it.

  1. Acubody Is The Foremost Acupuncture Clinic In London Acupuncture is a major component of Traditional Chinese Medicine and has been used in China since the Shang Dynasty of 1600 – 1100 BC. However, it was only used sparsely in the West until 1971 when a journalist in China to report on an event was taken ill with appendicitis. His appendix was removed, and as part of the recovery treatment he had a course of acupuncture. He wrote an article about it in the New York Times which sparked interest in the procedure in the West. Today, Acubody is the foremost acupuncture clinic in London, and the therapists at the clinic use acupuncture to resolve a wide range of health problems.

  2. Acupuncture works by the insertion of very fine needles into the surface of the body at specific points along the 12 meridians, or channels, which carry energy around the body to the various organs. In China, this energy is known as qi, pronounced “chee”, and all the while that it is flowing freely the body remains healthy. However, when something interrupts the flow of qi, it causes health problems in certain areas of the body. The aim of acupuncture is to restore the normal flow of qi and when that happens the body returns to good health. Quite how acupuncture works is something of a mystery to most people, but that is really unimportant. Most people don’t understand how their laptop works or how their phone works. There are, of course, tech “geeks” who do understand how they work, but the fact is that they both do work, and that is really all that matters. They do what they are supposed to do and what you want them to do. In that respect, acupuncture is similar. There is no need to know how it works, just so long as it does. In fact, there is promising scientific evidence to prove that acupuncture works for some chronic pain conditions such as arthritis and migraines. Many patients express concern about acupuncture as a result of needle phobia. However, unlike other needles, acupuncture needles are solid and as thin as a hair and are generally inserted only half an inch to an inch depending on the type of treatment. Most patients only experience a minimal amount of pain at the point the needle is inserted. Depending upon the condition being treated and its’ relative severity, a traditional acupuncture visit may take between half an hour and an hour. However, it may take several sessions to see significant improvement for a chronic pain condition. Acubody therapists also use acupuncture for a number of other conditions, one of which is infertility. This condition is thought to be caused, among other things, by stress, and there is no doubt that in the 21st century stress is common. Acupuncture

  3. is known to reduce stress, and it is thought that the reduction of stress in both men and women can help. Certainly, the therapists at Acubody have had some considerable successes in treating patients for infertility.
