  2. Tips to Choose the Right Sound Proofing Material for your Needs Don’t go by the Price • When you are in the process of soundproofing your home, do not choose a sound proofing material based on its price. You may be tempted to choose a cost effective option like soundproof paint. However, if you tend to live in an area that is prone to extreme weather conditions like rain and storms, you can expect the paint to peel off after some time. A suitable alternative, in this case, would be a more professional material like moisture resistant panels that block out the sound effectively, in addition to withstanding high moisture levels.

  3. Tips to Choose the Right Sound Proofing Material for your Needs Don’t go by Comparative Qualities • When soundproofing a room, you may want to choose a material like a carpet that is comparatively better than another material like wood or tiles. However, this may not be a wise option if you are soundproofing a studio or home theater. Carpets can do well in absorbing high-frequency sound waves but are not that effective in absorbing bass tones and low-frequency waves. Therefore, if you are soundproofing a room for a more serious purpose like recording music, you will be better off with professional sound absorber panels.

  4. Tips to Choose the Right Sound Proofing Material for your Needs Don’t go by the Practicality of the Solution • This may sound a bit bizarre, considering the fact that you are on the lookout for the most practical solution to soundproof your home. However, in certain cases, it would be wise to avoid a practical solution and choose the one that suits your needs instead. For instance, hay is a great sound absorber and can allow high-frequency waves to pass through without any disturbance. While it may be a practical solution than to simply stock up the room with giant hay bales, consider the mess and smell it will cause in the process. This is why we are better off with materials like scrim wrapped absorber panels as a suitable alternative to the more practical hay.
