Torii- threshold that separates the secular world (everyday world) from the sacred world.
Bow before crossing threw the torii. • Upon entering a shrine, you must purify yourself. • You then bang the gong or clap your hands to call the Kami’s attention.
Prayer cards- used to write a prayer request on. You leave it at the shrine as a reminder to the Kami of your request.

Rikishi is a sumo wrestler in Japanese • Yokozuna is the Grand Champion of Sumo Wrestling. He becomes a leader in the Shinto faith.
Interesting facts • Avg. weight of a sumo wrestler- 350 lbs • Each wrestler is ranked. The lowest wrestlers have to wait until the higher ranking wrestlers have eaten before they get to. • Yokozuna is rewarded 2 tons of rice, ton of chestnuts, grapes, and pears, 4 tons of onions, and a years supply of sake. • Ring is 15 feet in diameter. • Slapping, pushing, tripping, judo-flips are allowed. • Closed fist punching is not.
