  2. What is Lean? • A systematic approach of continuous improvement, based on the Toyota Production System (TPS) of lean principles and lean tools, used for the identification and elimination of waste

  3. The Lean Approach • Let the customer define value. • Identify which process steps create value and which are only waste. • Work to eliminate the root causes of waste and to promote continuous flow. • Optimize the use of available resources.

Inventory Management Rapid Improvement Event (RIE) Reason for action: • Reduce labor hours to manage inventory • Reduce vaccine administration/documentation errors • Create standard work and cross train several staff on management inventory. • Decrease patient wait time (time spent fixing errors or finding correct vaccine for client while they are waiting) • Reduce wasted vaccine and finances when wrong Lot # is used
