What Is Happening • Local/Individual Strategies have been implemented … i.e. • Homeowners installing wood heat • Wood Chip Boilers – 75% in energy cost savings vs fuel oil • Solar PV with 7 to 10 year payouts • Natural Gas expansion where available • Some buildings/home have energy audits • Some new construction is LEED certified • What is being worked on / considered … i.e. • Town wide heating using wood chips • Expanding wood chip boilers to large buildings • Community Based Virtual Net Metering – Legislative Change • Common Theme – change energy source to reduce energy costs …..
