  2. What is Orientation Week? • Week-long, academic orientation: FORMAL teaching and learning activity Setting directions and first taste of SCM life-style • 1st week of Semester A (30 Aug – 3 Sept)

  3. What is Orientation Week? • For ALL undergraduate programmes • BACM, BADMB, BScCM, AAMET, Foundation Year Study • OBTL initiative (Outcomes Based Teaching & Learning) • purposes ← → outcomes

  4. What is Orientation Week? • Divided into Groups • Each group with students from different programmes • Led by 3 year two / three students • Work together / play together / create experience • Independence Vs Inter-dependence

  5. Objectives of Orientation Week • For an intense experience of the diversity and variety resources of SCM & CityU • To encounter & experience ‘creativity’ in different angles • To encounter yourselves from different angles • To start thinking about learning / teaching / curriculum philosophies so as to build a broader vision of life

  6. Intended Learning Outcomes • Express and build up own identity through different resources... • … beginning with creating one's portfolio on a SCM students on-line platform • identify resources within SCM for academic and own creative purpose… • ...meeting Production Centre & IT team, discovering faculty expertise and talents • identify resources within CityU to enhance one's academic and career prospects… • ...e.g overseas exchange program, internship, scholarships, and other existing funds at CityU

  7. Intended Learning Outcomes • gain basic understanding of the curriculum of one's degree programmes and principles of structure • work in a team for artistic creation and build up good relationship with fellows • understand the new undergraduate system and General Education

  8. Who are involved in O-week? • Over 50Year 2 and 3 students as group leaders, programming, execution . . . • Programme and Studio Leaders • 13Teaching Staff members holding special workshop sessions

  9. What's in the week-long programme? School-level Sessions + Programme-level Activities + Group Activities + Hanging out, Being yourselves...
