  5. Strategies for Networking • Volunteer • Go to local businesses/organizations that you are interested in • Introduce yourself and Ask if you can volunteer to help with daily activities or events • Take a Resume and Reference information with you • Dress appropriately

  6. Volunteer Opportunities • Hospital summer volunteer program • Help with the activities director at the local nursing homes • Work with a landscaper • Be involved with the cooperative extension program • Work at community soup kitchen or meal sites for the elderly • Possibilities are Endless….

  7. Where to Go? • Local Newspaper • Job Fairs • Online resources related to your field • www.nutritionjobs.com • www.indeed.com • www.usjobs.gov • High School Teacher who is an expert in field that you are interested in • They may have contacts for you and can be a good reference!

How to Stand Out (In a good way!) • Dress professionally • Employers will take you seriously • Shows that you care and are really interested • Clearly Introduce Yourself and Your intent • Be prepared • Resume • Contact information for references • Your contact information • Be sure that your email address name, social media picture and phone voicemail is appropriate
