  2. Introduction Subject- Mathematics Grade Level- 4th Ohio Content Standards- • Solve problems involving counting money and making change, using both coins and paper bills. • Objective- To produce change from a higher value of coins/paper money.

  3. In this lesson you will learn how to make change using both paper money and also coins. • After this lesson there will be a short quiz to see what you know. • Click the right arrow to continue on.

  4. Basic information In order to begin this lesson you need to know a few things. One dollar bills=1 Five dollar bills= 5 A quarter=25 cents A dime=10 cents A nickel= 5 cents A penny= 1 cent Now that you know that lets begin!

  5. One dollar bill • There are many ways to make change with a one dollar bill. • The most simple examples are… • 4 quarters-each worth 25 cents • so .25+.25+.25+.25 = 1 • 10 dimes- each worth 10 cents or .10 • 20 nickels- each worth 5 cents or .5 • 100 pennies-each worth 1 cent or .1

  6. 5 dollar bill • When you have a 5 dollar bill and you are trying to make change out of it, it would be best if you just worked with one dollar bills unless there is a reason to use change. • If you decide to use change just treat it like 5 one dollar bills. We just learned how to make change from a one dollar bill. • You need 5 one dollar bills to make 5 dollars. • 1+1+1+1+1=5

  7. All about Quarters • There are many ways you can make change from a quarter. • Most common examples are • 2 dimes and a nickel • 5 nickels • 25 pennies

  8. Dimes and nickels • To make change from a dime you can either use 2 nickels or 10 pennies. • The only way you can make change from a nickel is with 5 pennies.

  9. Pennies • There is no way that you can make change from a penny. • You can use pennies in order to make change with other coins and dollars though. • You now have the information in order to complete the quiz. • Click the right arrow to go to the quiz,the home button to go back to the home page, or the left arrow to redo the lesson
