  1. SURESHADE® Externalmotorisedoperableandretractablealuminiumlouvres (externalvenetianblinds) Anoverviewofavailableproducttypes &constructionspecifications External venetian blindshavebeen globallytested and universallyfoundtobethe best method ofreflectingsolarheat, while atthesametime, allowingnaturallight, throughthe glazing(windows). Thepercentage of solarheatreflectedbytheseexternalvenetianblindsisdependent uponthereflectivity oftheslatcolourwiththecoloursmostreflective, silverandwhite, resultinginan 87% decrease ofsolar heatentering through the glazing. The current external venetian blinds allow natural light to penetrate through the glazing while removing the solar heat and solar glare and are, in this regard, unique to all other shadebuilding products. Othermethods ofsolar heatminimisationusedin oronglazing ;reflectivefilm,e glass, nanoparticlesurfacing, singletint and doubletintetc.canonlyachievepartial success to the detrimentotheraspects ofglazing. All such methodspermanentlydegrade light transmission, diminishthenaturalinternallightlevels (lux measurement)insidethe buildingandfailtoovercomethecentralissue, that ofremovingthesolarheatbefore theglazingand frames. Inexcessof2millionexternalvenetianblinds are soldannually in Europe, andtodate,in AustraliaEuropeanmodelshaveeitherbeen fullyimported or copiedandassembled. HowevertheEuropeanmarkethasacceptedthattheblindsshouldbefullyretracted in moderate velocitywindsasEuropedoesnothave theexperience of highwindand summerheatand theEuropean marketis alsomostinterestedin heat loseratherthan heat gain. Accordingly, todate, allexternalvenetianblindsarefittedwithwindvelocity sensorswhich causetheblindto be retracted in moderatewinds and fortheAustralianmarketthis is and continuestobeamajorissue.AnnuallyAustraliancoastalwindvelocity conditionsare veryseldom calm.Inthe Sydneymetropolitanarea (otherlocationsspecificationsare available)annuallythere is greaterthana 20%chancethat a windvelocityof greaterthan 30kph will occurfromthe NWandNEand a15% chance fromtheWandEand these windvelocities aremostoften coupledwith“windgusts”wellinexcessof 30kph.In summertheprobabilityfora windvelocityin excessof 30kphincreasesto40%fromthe NE.
