  1. Should We Get iPhone/iPad Jailbroken Whether you have or haven't your iPhone/iPad jailbroken, you must have heard about the term jailbreak. Some of you might have no idea what exactly jailbreak is. (Jailbreak? Prison Break? Wentworth Miller? I can't be the only female user who thinks in this way!) Anyway, to those who don't really know what jailbreaking is or who are not sure about whether to get their iOS device jailbroken, this post will help you develop a clear understanding of iOS jailbreaking and decide if jailbreaking is a wise choice for your iPhone/iPad. What is Jailbreaking? Jailbreak, as the name would suggest, is breaking some restrictions to get more freedom. Prisons jailbreak to escape from the restriction of jail, an iOS jailbreak gets iPhone/iPad out of the restrictions imposed by iOS system and grant more freedom for the iDevice. Therefore, by getting their iOS devices jailbroken, users have more flexibility to change the device to fit their personalized needs.

  2. This is achieved by the use of software exploits. Usually, after a release of a new iOS version, such as the iOS 10 coming this September, jailbreak tools designed for the iOS systems will be unveiled soon. However, as the iOS system is released with more patching exploits and with new hardware, it is more and more difficult to find the exploits of a new iOS system. Therefore, users have to wait a longer time for jailbreaking tools to be published. There are mainly two types of jailbreak. A tethered jailbreak means that a computer is needed to turn the device on each time it is rebooted. A tethered phone cannot be turned on just by pressing the power switch, it may remain stuck at the Apple Logo screen or some applications are unusable after you restart it. On the other hand, an un-tethered jailbreak allows you to easily turn it on and off by pressing the power button. When a jailbreak tool is released, usually the tethered version comes first before the untethered version. What Can You Do with a Jailbroken iPhone/iPad? With a jailbroken iPhone/iPad, you can download additional applications, extensions, and themes that are impossible to have on an unjailbroken iDevice.  Change the System Font Get tired of the original font of iOS system? After getting your iPhone/iPad jailbroken, you can feel free to change the font to the size and style you like.

  3. Change the Theme on Your iPhone/iPad Colorful and cartoony look theme, new UI experience, more color options available, featured springboard widgets…you name it. With a jailbroken device, you can have whatever theme you want.

  4. More Powerful Third-party Extensions and Applications You can download extensions or application that is not provided by official Apple App Store. For example, easy-to-use BlackBerry keyboard installed to your iPhone, filter app to decrease ads from your browser as well as ads from apps. The Other Side of Jailbreaking Every coin has two sides. Despite of all the awesome things you can do with a jailbroken iPhone/iPad, you should also be aware of the risk of jailbreaking. When the device gets rid of the restriction of iOS system, it also is far away from the protection of the system. After jailbreaking, your iPhone or iPad is more open to attack. And some of users may find their devices suffering from the harm of malware. And with more third-party apps and extension from outside of app store, the battery life of your iOS devices will shorten. You have to charge the iPhone/iPad more frequently. Moreover, your phone could become less stable. The iOS system may be stuck, crashed. Conclusion

  5. Should I get my iPhone/iPad jailbroken? Before making the decision, you should ask yourself the question: What do I want to do with a jailbroken iOS device? If you really need some additional extensions and enjoy digging into the operation of iOS system, then you should go ahead to have a new experience. But if you just like the idea of jailbreak and have no idea what you are going to do with a jailbroken device, why not just stay with the original iOS system? After all, it is an excellent system perfected with more and more wonderful features.
