Their team is making all the necessary preparations weeks in advance to simply be sure that these lodges cater to all the needs of their wingshooting guests and is ready to welcome them upon arrival. The Westervelt Lodge has a long and rich history when it comes to all kinds of fowl hunting but their history with how wingshooting became such a vital part of their service portfolio tells a tale of passion for the sport and commitment to delivering nothing but the best. It was already as far back as 1974, when the owners of the lodge opted to add skeet and trap fields do their estate and within a mere four years later, they could offer the popular sport in the region for the first time on their property. The lodge instantly became a popular destination when it was wingshooting season. This development nicely complemented their already well-deserved title as an outstanding whitetail lodge. Today, their visitors can enjoy a jampacked season filled with a range of activities. Here hunters can enjoy dove and quail hunting, but they also offer mixed bag hunting. With the latter option, hunters can shoot up to 15 quail, 4 chukar and 2 pheasants. The lodge offers the full hunting experience and the price you pay for your stay in the wingshooting lodge includes the assistance of guides and dogs and they take care of all transportation to the hunting field and back. So, if you are still unsure about what is to offer in these rich and fruitful hunting fields around the Westervelt Lodge, you can be sure to be surprised. Here you will find European-style driven pheasant shoots. The guides station their clients in blinds of 10 all-around a hidden tower. It is a trip on which you can see about 300 birds or more in a single flight. Pheasant is however not the only feathered pray on offer as dove shooting is another tradition with its roots deep in the south. For the past 40 years, the Westervelt Lodge has been a landmark in the season, a place known for outstanding hunting opportunities. Throughout the year they take care to ensure the doves have more than enough to eat and drink and to multiply in their numbers, ready for the shooting season to bring about loads of success. Lastly, the Westervelt Lodge is also a place where quail is quite often the target and as the lodge have hard-running bird dogs in their kennels, finding these birds with the help of their highly skilled guides is just enough of a challenge to remain exciting. Throughout the entire year they take care to maintain the forested areas with absolute care, ready to open their arms for hunters from far and wide, to indulge in an experience of excitement, challenging mind, and body and one of luxurious rest in their indulgent lodges, the available accommodation on the premises.
About Us: Our hunting history at the Westervelt Lodge dates back as far as 1951 when we hosted our first deer hunting trip. On that day in November 78 hunters and six dogs gathered and in total, they managed to take down three bucks. Yet, although we still remember the exact weight of these bucks, it wasn’t what stuck with us. No, it was the fun and the amazing experience we shared in the field out hunting. It is the same amazing hunting experience that we still offer today to our visiting hunters and it is what keeps them returning year after year.
